BARC provides year-round spay and neuter assistance for families who may otherwise struggle to afford these services. There are no residency restrictions.
Who Qualifies?
You may qualify for BARC assistance if you receive government assistance or meet our income guidelines.
Accepted forms of government assistance include WIC, Social Security, Social Security Disability (SSDI), Medicaid, SNAP/food stamps, Illinois Link Card, Section 8 housing assistance, and similar programs. Documentation must be in your name.
Our current annual income guidelines are:
Individual: Under $20,000
Family: Under $32,000
Proof of eligibility must be presented on the day of surgery.

Important Program Guidelines
BARC assistance is exclusively for privately owned family pets. Rescue organizations, breeders, and individuals seeking assistance for animals they are rescuing or rehoming are not eligible for this program. To ensure BARC’s limited funding can help as many families as possible, assistance is limited to three pets per owner.
EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1, 2024: Due to the demand for our program and increased expenses, we require a minimum copay of $25 per cat and $35 per dog.
